Ingredients:

For the Dough:

200g butter
1 cup (80ml) vegetable oil
5 tbsp sugar (100g)
1 egg
1 packet vanilla sugar
1/2 packet baking powder
About 5 cups flour
For Cherry Sauce:

2 cups canned cherries (frozen can also be used)
4 tbsp sugar
2 tbsp cornstarch
1 cup (80ml) cherry juice or water
Instructions:

Prepare the Dough:

Mix the dough ingredients to form a soft, non-sticky dough.
Refrigerate the dough to rest.
Prepare Cherry Sauce:

In a saucepan, mix cherry juice and cornstarch until the starch dissolves.
Add sugar and cherries, and cook until the sauce thickens.
Assemble the Tart:

Divide the dough into two parts.
Roll out one part to fit your tart mold. Place it in the mold, smoothing it out and prick holes with a fork.
Pour the cherry sauce over the dough.
Roll out the remaining dough and cover the tart. You can cut shapes or cover it whole.
Preheat the oven to 175°C (347°F) and bake until the top is golden brown (approximately 50-55 minutes).
Serve:

Sprinkle powdered sugar over the tart before serving.
