Recipe:
For the Cake:
- 2 large (L) eggs
- 150 g of white sugar
- Zest of 2 oranges
- 100 ml of unsalted melted butter
- 250 g of cake flour
- 1 teaspoon of baking powder
- A pinch of salt
- 80 ml of milk
- Juice of 2 oranges
Cake Preparation:
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (356°F) and prepare two 18 cm cake pans.
- Using a mixer, beat the eggs with sugar and orange zest until airy.
- Gradually add melted butter while continuing to beat.
- Gently fold in sifted flour, baking powder, alternating with orange juice and milk.
- Stir in a pinch of salt. Mix until smooth.
- Divide the batter between the two pans and bake for 30/35 minutes.
- Remove from the oven, loosen the edges, and let cool completely in the pans.
For the Filling and Frosting:
- Swiss meringue (recipe on my YouTube channel)
- 200 ml of cream
- 350 g of baking chocolate
Frosting Preparation:
- Heat cream and melt chocolate in it until fully incorporated.
- Chill the mixture in the fridge. Once cooled, mix with Swiss meringue. Beat until creamy and smooth.
