Ingredients:
For the Pie Crust:
- 150 g (1 ¼ c.) all-purpose flour
- 1 ½ tsp. granulated sugar
- ¼ tsp. salt
- 113 g (½ c.) cold, cubed unsalted butter
- 1-2 tbsp. ice water
For the Salted Caramel Apples:
- 3 small apples, peeled & thinly sliced
- ¼ c. salted caramel sauce
- 2 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 1 tbsp. all-purpose flour
For the Egg Wash:
- 1 egg
- 1 tbsp. milk
- 30 g (¼ c.) crushed walnuts
Instructions:
Pie Crust:
- In a bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, and butter. Use a pastry cutter or fingers to cut butter into mixture until small chunks are dispersed.
- Mix in 1 tbsp. water, gently kneading. If needed, add water ½ tbsp. at a time until dough forms.
- Flatten dough slightly, wrap in plastic, and chill for 30 minutes to 2 days.
Salted Caramel Apples:
- Peel and slice apples, placing them in a mixing bowl.
- Mix in salted caramel sauce, cinnamon, and flour until apples are coated.
Assembly & Baking:
- Preheat oven to 375°F / 190°C. Line a baking sheet with parchment or silicone mat.
- Roll out chilled dough on a floured surface into an 11" / 28 cm circle. Mark an 8" / 20 cm circle in the center.
- Place rolled crust on the baking sheet.
- Arrange apples in the inner circle, patting them down.
- Fold the extra dough over the apples.
- For the egg wash, whisk egg and milk. Brush over the crust and sprinkle with walnuts.
- Bake 30-40 minutes until golden.
- Optional: Drizzle with extra caramel sauce for a glossy finish. Serve with ice cream. Enjoy!
