This Wacky Cake, also known as Crazy Chocolate Cake, is incredibly easy, economical, and super quick to make. The best part? It’s prepared in the same Pyrex dish you’ll bake it in, keeping the mess to a minimum.
Equipment Needed
To make this delicious Wacky Cake, you will need the following equipment:
- Pyrex dish (approximately 25 x 35 cm)
- Whisk
- Sifter
- Oven
- Toothpick
Ingredients:
- 175 ml water
- 150 ml fresh orange juice
- 100 ml olive oil
- 240 g sugar
- 250 g all-purpose flour
- 30 g cocoa powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- Zest of 1 orange
Instructions:
- Preheat the Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 170°C (340°F) with the fan on.
- Mix the Wet Ingredients:
- In a Pyrex dish approximately 25 x 35 cm, pour in the water, fresh orange juice, olive oil, and sugar. Whisk until the sugar is dissolved.
- Add the Dry Ingredients:
- Sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and cinnamon. Add the orange zest to the dry mixture.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture in the Pyrex dish. Whisk or stir with a fork until you have a smooth batter.
- Bake the Cake:
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 35 minutes.
- Test for doneness by inserting a toothpick into the center of the cake; it should come out clean and dry.
- Serve:
- Serve plain, dusted with powdered sugar, or topped with chocolate ganache or frosting of your choice.
