The Recipe

Cake Batter

  • 3 room temperature eggs
  • 2 packets vanilla sugar
  • 1 cup (200ml) sugar
  • 180ml sunflower oil
  • 180ml milk
  • 2 tbsp strained yogurt
  • 1 tbsp cinnamon
  • 50-100g chopped hazelnuts
  • 1 packet baking powder
  • 3 cups (200ml each) flour

Apple Mixture

  • 3 green or red apples
  • 1 tbsp cinnamon
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • A handful of raisins

Crumble

  • 75g room temperature butter
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 10 tbsp flour

Instructions

  1. For the cake, whisk together eggs, sugar, and vanilla sugar. Gradually add oil, milk, yogurt, cinnamon, baking powder, and flour to make the batter. Stir in hazelnuts. Pour into a greased 28cm cake pan.
  2. Peel and thinly slice apples. Mix with sugar, cinnamon, and spread over the cake batter. Sprinkle raisins on top.
  3. For the crumble, mix sugar, flour, and butter with your fingertips until it forms crumbs. Sprinkle over the apples.
  4. Bake in a preheated oven at 170°C (338°F) until the top is golden brown. Optionally, dust with powdered sugar.
