Recipe: Ingredients for 12 Doughnuts:

  • 3.5 cups of flour (500g)
  • 1 tablespoon of dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup of sugar
  • 1/4 cup of oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup of water (185 ml)
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 tablespoon of brandy (alternatively, vodka or another 40%+ spirit)
  • Oil for frying
  • Bowl of sugar for coating

Instructions:

  1. In a food processor with a dough hook (or by hand), briefly mix flour, yeast, and sugar.
  2. Add vanilla extract, eggs, oil, and water, mixing until dough forms.
  3. Once the dough comes together, add salt and knead for 10 minutes at medium speed.
  4. Incorporate the brandy and mix until evenly distributed, about 1-2 minutes. The dough will be sticky.
  5. Let the dough rise in an oiled bowl, covered with cling film, for about 1.5 to 2 hours, until it doubles in size.
  6. After rising, briefly knead to release some air and divide into 12 balls.
  7. Roll each ball into a long strip and twist the ends in opposite directions to form the spiral shape (as shown in the video).
  8. Let the shaped doughnuts rise again for 45 minutes.
  9. Heat oil in a pot to 160-170°C. Use a thermometer for accuracy.
  10. Fry each doughnut for about 45 seconds to 1 minute per side until they are golden brown and cooked through.
  11. After frying, roll the doughnuts in a bowl of sugar for coating.
