Sauce:
- 1.5 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 large clove garlic, minced
- 4 tablespoons ketchup
- 4 tablespoons honey
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon chili flakes (optional)
Garnish:
- Chili peppers, sliced
- Sesame seeds
- Spring onions, chopped
Instructions:
- Season the cubed chicken breasts with black pepper and garlic powder.
- For the batter, whisk together the egg, corn starch, flour, sparkling water, garlic powder, black pepper, baking powder, and a pinch of salt in a bowl. Coat the seasoned chicken with this mixture and refrigerate for 1 hour.
- Heat vegetable oil in a pan and fry the chicken pieces until golden and crispy. Do this in batches to avoid overcrowding.
- For the sauce, sauté minced garlic in oil until fragrant. Stir in ketchup, honey, and soy sauce. Cook briefly, then add chili flakes if desired.
- Toss the fried chicken in the sauce, ensuring each piece is well coated.
- Garnish the honey garlic chicken with sesame seeds, sliced chili peppers, and spring onions.
